First of all, we remove all existing shingles.
We normally do this in sections, an area that we can get covered in one day.
We are then able to check the roof deck for any damage and repair it before installing
the new shingles.
Manufacturers will not warranty their product when they are installed over existing shingles.
We strongly suggest installing Ice and Water Shield in your valleys and eaves.
This is a self sealing, rubberized membrane.
It does not stop ice damns from occurring, but will stop any leakage.
On most roofs we would put it 3 ft from the eave. However,
if your roof is Low Slope, ie under 4/12 pitch, we install it to your complete roof
before installing the shingles.
We can then install 15lb Felt Paper to your entire roof as an underlayment.
The advantage of this, is that, if there are any shingles blown off your roof,
you have paper as an added protection.
This is not code, but building code states that eave protection, 15lb felt paper
be installed 3ft from the eave.
We can install Metal Drip Flashing along the eave to stop the shingles curling along the edge.
If your roof has valleys, there are a couple of ways the valleys can be finished,
depending on the "Look" you prefer.
- Open Valley - the valley flashing is exposed
for photo
- Closed Cut - the valley flashing is shingled over
for photo
Both methods are acceptable by the manufacturers, and we can discuss your personal
preference at time of estimate.
Chimney Flashings can normally be re-sealed .
If they need replacing, we will also discuss this with you at time of estimate.
As for Plumbing Flashings, we normally suggest replacing them,
since re-sealing them can be difficult.
There is a wide variety of shingles to choose from.
We can use any shingle of your choice from the Major Shingle Manufacturers, CertainTeed, BP, and IKO."
We suggest that you install a minimum 25 year warranty traditional shingle.
There are a number of different designs and styles to choose from,
and we can discuss your needs and preferences.
Our installers use Air Roofing Nailers with 11/4 inch Roofing nails to secure your shingles,
and we Caulk all exposed nails.
We use a Magnetic Broom to pick up any nails on the ground.
Shingle Manufacturers cover the warranty on the Product. (ie 25-35 Years)
We offer a 5 Year Labour Warranty.
